Formed by God, Given Life

“Then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.” Genesis 2:7 (ESV)

Have you ever felt like life is unfinished? Maybe the plans you made seem to be falling apart, and you cannot see what comes next. I have known seasons like that, when all I could see was uncertainty and darkness.

As I read through Genesis, I am reminded that God

is at work from the very beginning. In Genesis 1, darkness covers the deep, and the Spirit of God hovers over the waters. Then God speaks, and light appears. In Genesis 2:7, He forms the man from the dust and breathes life into him. God is Creator, giver of life, and present with His creation.

When I look back on my own difficult seasons, I can see that God was with me even when I could not understand what He was doing. Through seasons that felt unfinished, and times when my plans fell apart, He was creating light and life in me. He sustained me and reminded me that my story was still in His hands.

Genesis 2:7 reminds me that I was formed by God. My life is not an accident, and I am not forgotten when things feel uncertain. I am His child, known and cared for by the One who gave me life.

The verses that follow show God placing Adam in a garden He had prepared. He gave Adam life and a place to live and work. This picture reminds me that God cares for the people He we creates. Even when I cannot see the whole plan, I can trust His presence and care in the season I am living.

When I feel overwhelmed by what I cannot fix, I can pause and remember who God is and who I am in Him. He is my Creator and the giver of life. I am His child, held in His care. My circumstances may feel unfinished, but God has not forgotten me.

Reflection Time

Have you ever been in a season when your plans fell apart or life felt unfinished? What was that season like for you?

As you read Genesis 2:7, what does it remind you about the God who formed you and gave you life?

Looking back, where have you seen God sustain you or bring light during a difficult season? How does knowing you are His child shape the way you face the season you are in now?
